The SPECS
-
This Chevrolet Impala is the recipient of a frame-off restoration by Auto Craft of Kansas City in 2011. This car represents the type of showroom possibilities that Chevrolet offered in a pivotal year, one that would conclude the 2-year, second-generation design of this model. Underneath the hood is a W-Series 348ci Turbo-Thrust V8 engine topped off with the three 2-barrel carburetion layout - a Tri-Power system restored by Hot Rod Restoration in 2010 and featuring OEM-level reconditioning. With the 3.25x4.125 oversquare bore and stroke configuration, this engine has 9.5:1 compression, the classic W-head valve covers and was rebuilt in 2009. It is backed by an automatic transmission, with the Impala exhaling through an original factory dual-exhaust system. Power brakes are also part of this car. With original sheet metal, this car's exterior is done in beautiful Code 900 Tuxedo Black and features the new-for-1960 side and grille trim. The white top matches the white stripe on the rear quarters, which features the Impala and crossed-flag emblems near the doors. The interior, done in red, is restored to its original colors, as are the dash, carpet and seat covers. The original gauges are still used in the display, with a radio featuring cassette upgrades and dual antennas; there are also power top controls and a red top boot. Touches on the outside include the dual chrome mirrors, dual rear-mount antennas, horizontal front fender trim, quad headlamps and the matching taillamp trios housed in a brightwork trim piece. The steel wheels are dressed up with full-size spinner wheel covers and whitewall tires. The Chevrolet name is spelled out on the leading edge of the hood, with a Chevrolet crest on the decklid.
